23.09.2007 - 26.09.2007: 51st IFHP World Congress: Future of cities - Copenhagen
The main forum for ideas and debate for policymakers, practitioners and researchers regarding the futures of cities. The World Congress will feature keynote speakers addressing the impacts, indicators and implementations influencing the futures of cities. Parallel sessions will feature the presentation of papers, and offer special interest groups such as the IFHP Working Parties the opportunity to assemble. Study tours will take the congress out into the field. Øksnehallen will offer the physical framework for the World Congress.
Moving to the city? Or is the city moving
The year 2007 marks a dramatic shift in human history: yesterday’s fields and flowers - tomorrow’s urban wildlife. Half of the world’s population now inhabit cities!
Impacts
As our urban population increases, so does the number of questions: What are the impacts? On the cityscape, on the countryside, on the built environment, on where we work, where you live and where our children play?
Indicators
What are the indicators? Recent findings, current trends! Hard facts, future figures! What is the measure of urban quality, of adequate housing? What are current construction rates? What are the forecasts for 2030!
Implementations
What implementations are being made? How do we approach the rising urbanization? What policies, plans and programs are being enacted? Who is doing it, and how are they getting the job done?
