Als Partner in einem internationalen Projektverbund bearbeitet das Institut für Stadt-, Regional- und Umweltplanung der HafenCity Universität Hamburg das Projekt "CULTPLAN -- Planning as Cultures in Europe" www.cultplan.org.
Das Projekt verfolgt das Ziel, kulturelle Einflüsse (z.B. unterschiedliche Planungssysteme, Vorgehensweisen, Traditionen, Werte, Arbeits- und Entscheidungsstrukturen) auf Planungsprozesse und -ergebnisse zu betrachten und zu einem besseren Verständnis der unterschiedlichen Planungskulturen beizutragen. Untersuchungsgegenstand sind INTERREG-Projekte.
Im Rahmen von CULTPLAN findet am 28.-29. Juni 2007 in Hamburg eine Internationale Fachkonferenz zum Thema "Planungskulturen" statt. Weitere Informationen dazu finden Sie unter http://www.hcu-hamburg.de/stadtplanung/cultplan. Tagungssprache ist Englisch.

The Symposium
Planning Cultures in Europe – Exploring Cultural Differences as Resources and Restrictions for Interregional Cooperation
28th – 29th of June 2007 in Hamburg
International planning cooperation as INTERREG makes obvious that development processes and planning decisions are influenced by cultural contexts. The project CULTPLAN (“Planning as Culture in Europe”), which is funded by the EU-initiative INTERACT, is focusing on aspects of cultural variety and cultural differences in INTERREG-projects, e.g. different perception and meaning of space, specific traditions and philosophies, societal rules and values. Its results shall contribute to a better interregional cooperation on the European level.
As part of CULTPLAN the International Symposium will concentrate on planning cultures, especially on planning systems and traditions, perception of planning within society, planning strategies and instruments, and actors involved in planning processes.
Therefore, a one and a half-day symposium with international participants and experts is planned. The Symposium will be attended by an international Advisory Committee chaired by Prof. Dr. Joerg Knieling (HCU Hamburg, Germany).
The official language of the symposium is English.
